SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Sen. Chuck Weaver (R-Peoria) offered the following comments after Gov. Bruce Rauner delivered his second annual Budget Address Feb. 17.
“Today’s budget address was another reminder about the serious fiscal challenges our state faces, as well as the very real consequences of Illinois not having a budget. I am meeting with social service agencies weekly and their pain is real. I am requesting that the Democrat leaders come to the table to get a balanced budget with the reform to make our state and social service agencies healthy again,” Weaver said. “The fear of the unknown is what is paralyzing the state. We’re ready to work, we’re ready to solve this budget impasse, but ultimately it’s going to take the good-faith negotiations by the Speaker of the House and the Senate President to solve the current crisis and work toward healing Illinois’ fiscal health.”
