Senator Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville) will serve citizens in Senate District 54 after being sworn into office on Wednesday, Jan. 9. During the swearing-in ceremony, surrounded by family and friends, he took the oath of office, pledging his loyalty to the Illinois Constitution and the people of the state. Sen. Plummer was elected to the seat in the Nov. 6, 2018 general election.
“It’s a tremendous honor and privilege to be sworn in to represent the residents of the 54th Senate District and the State of Illinois. It’s truly humbling,” said Sen. Plummer. “Southern Illinois deserves a strong, independent, and effective voice in Springfield, and I’m committed to working hard to be that voice for each and every person that lives in my district. We have a great deal of work to do and I’m eager to get started.”
Sen. Plummer lives with his wife, Shannon and daughter, Audrey, in Edwardsville. He serves as Vice President of R.P. Lumber, a family owned and operated business with nearly 70 locations throughout Illinois and Missouri. Sen. Plummer is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and first answered the call to serve when he served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy.
