COWL announces $2,500 scholarship program for women 25+
State Senator Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles) is encouraging women throughout the 33rd District, who are seeking to earn undergraduate college degrees, to apply for a $2,500 scholarship offered by the Conference of Women Legislators (COWL). Applicants must be 25 years or older.
COWL is a bipartisan, bicameral, nonprofit organization of women legislators in the Illinois General Assembly. Their yearly Scholarship Award Program coincides with its mission to promote economic independence, community services, and leadership development.
This is a great opportunity for women of all backgrounds, who are hoping to return to school to continue their education, said Sen. DeWitte. Unfortunately, women who had their education interrupted or started their college journey later in life have fewer financial opportunities than traditional students. I hope that women in my district take advantage of this scholarship as they seek to better themselves through education.
Scholarship applicants are required to enroll in an Illinois accredited college or university for a minimum of six credit hours to qualify, making the scholarships available to part-time and online students.
Applications must be postmarked or emailed by April 30, 2019. Awardees will be notified by May 31, 2019.
